It’s been quite a year. If you—like many of us—are tired of the roller coaster that is 2020, take a break and look ahead to 2021. How are you planning to connect with consumers?

We’ve cut the cost of our annual, customizable calendar to help you engage consumers in a long-lasting (and loved!) deliverable.

Schedule for Success

Digital technology may be all the rage (especially as Americans spend more time at home in recent months) but physical calendars remain popular.

That’s not a coincidence. Studies have found that writing down goals increases the likelihood of achieving them. According to the Wall Street Journal, handwriting is a “good cognitive exercise” to boost retention and keep your mind sharp. This winning combination explains why physical calendars are great for keeping us focused and accountable.

Calendars are an effective marketing tool to keep important utility messages front and center all year long. Ruralite and Currents magazines produce an annual calendar showcasing calendar pictures from readers across Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, and California. As many as 13 winning shots capturing the beauty of the West are selected. Photographs are accepted through July 17, 2020.

Not only do our calendars offer a rewarding touchpoint with consumers; they are more affordable this year. The price per copy of our 2021 calendar is five cents lower than last year.

“In the age of COVID-19, and understanding the tough challenges we all face, Pioneer Utility Resources worked hard with our longtime printer to squeeze out savings that could be passed along to you,” says Editor Leon Espinoza. “Every penny counts.”

Add Custom Content

Just as our magazines balance shared and local content to maximize shared printing costs, our annual calendar delivers value and easy customization.

“We use the calendar to put dates specific to our utility, such as holiday office closures, our annual meeting, scholarship deadline, and calendar contest deadline,” says Teresa Lackey, marketing and communications manager at Midstate Electric Cooperative, Oregon. “Members look forward to receiving the calendar every year.”

Our 2021 calendar includes six pages of energy-related tips and information. The calendars are designed in-house and offer several customization options. Two examples from our portfolio offer inspiration:

  • Annual report calendar | Clatskanie PUD, Oregon

Feature Local Images

While many utilities enjoy using shared pictures from across the West, some utilities showcase local consumer photos in their version of the calendar. In Alaska, Barrow Utilities and Electric Cooperative, Inc., takes it a step further. The co-op uses winning shots on local Ruralite magazine covers, too.
