Looking for feature story topics? Start connecting the dots.

Traci Brock, a member services representative and communicator for Wasco Electric Cooperative in The Dalles, Oregon, began looking for story clues while doing audits.

“I find my Ruralite story topics in the weirdest spots,” says Traci. “I’m out in the field on my weatherization audits talking with members. They share all kinds of great stories about their neighbors. I track down those neighbors and develop the story idea.”

From a farm focused on bird conservation efforts to a tribal member designing custom jewelry, Traci finds her best content when she connects the dots between members she works with and local stories or personalities.

“I learned talking to people leads me in the right direction,” says Traci.

Traci shares her tip in this video.
