This month, several features focused on cooperatives responding to these challenging times. In Oregon, Rodger Nichols shared how Northern Wasco PUD is coping with COVID-19. In South Carolina, Robin Howard shared with Marlboro Electric members small ways to save big during tough times. Ted Case, Executive Director of Oregon Rural Electric Cooperative Association, detailed the role of electric cooperatives during three early days of the pandemic. Pat Keegan and Brad Thiessen shared seven steps to organize efficiency projects. Pioneer Utility Resources editorial assistant Alyssa McDougle delivered a massive list of fun things to do indoors. In Florida, Escambia River Electric helped readers be strategic and save on bills. It hits home, literally these days, to offer tips to save money while we get through this pandemic.

 

Manager Message

In May, COVID-19 information carried over to the manager message pages. In Idaho, Clearwater Power offered a graphic with information about monitoring electric usage and supporting local businesses. Michael Bradshaw, general manager of Benton REA in Washington, reassured members who have been economically affected by the pandemic. In Alaska, Golden Valley Electric Association updated members who may be experiencing financial hardships due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Plumas-Sierra Rural Electric Cooperative encouraged members to help their community through tough times. The manager’s message is a powerful way to reach readers.
